Why - Perchè

Here are some of the different kinds of entries in this site:
  1. Interesting words are words which present no particular difficulty, yet the differences between English and Italian are remarkable enough to make them non-trivial.
  2. False Friends are words which have completely different meaning in Italian and English, even if they have a very similar spelling.
  3. Words that have more than one meaning, only one of which is widely known to foreigners.
  4. Monsters / Horrors are everything which makes you double in pain, both in Italian and in English. Sometimes, the comical (?) effect actually derives from a horrible mixup of the two languages.
Ecco alcuni dei differenti tipi di voci presenti in questo sito:
  1. Le parole interessanti sono parole che non presentano particolari difficoltà, ma in cui le differenze tra inglese e italiano sono abbastanza notevoli da renderle non triviali.
  2. I false friends sono parole che hanno significati completamente differenti in italiano e inglese, anche se hanno un'ortografia molto simile.
  3. Parole che hanno più di un significato, solo uno dei quali è ampiamente noto agli stranieri.
  4. Mostri e orrori sono tutto quello che vi fa provare dolore fisico, sia in italiano che in inglese. Alcune volte, l'effetto comico (?) deriva in realtà dall'orribile mescolanza delle due lingue.
