Bold - Audace

People whose English was born in the Internet / Computer age may not imagine it, but bold has also another meaning besides indicating a different thickness of fonts. The Penguin Pocket English Dictionary says on the matter: "1. showing or requiring a fearless adventurous spirit 2. impudent, presumptuous 3. standing out prominently; conspicuous". If you use an English-language computer or application, you may want to note this down for the next time you select some text and push "CTRL-B".

Alcuni il cui inglese è nato nell'era di Internet e dei computer potrebbero non immaginarlo, ma "bold" ha anche un altro significato oltre ad indicare uno spessore diverso dei caratteri. Il Penguin Pocket English Dictionary a proposito dice: "1. che mostra o richiede uno spirito impavido o avventuroso 2. impudente, presuntuoso 3. che si distingue prominentemente; cospicuo". Se usate un computer o un'applicazione in lingua inglese, potreste volervelo annotare per la prossima volta che selezionate del testo e premete CTRL-B.
